A few years ago, I was laid off from my job and had to start from scratch. Literally. I started baking pupcakes for my dog, Sugar, to relax and reduce the stress of looking for a new job. What started out as self-care quickly turned into something bigger—Pupcake Sugar.
Sugar’s daily shenanigans made me laugh. So, I created an illustrated character inspired by her and her love of pupcakes. Sugar’s character is a “pupcakepreneur” that owns and operates her own pupcakery called Pupcake Sugar.
Pupcake Sugar’s mission is to remind dog moms how dope we are as well as “bake” self-care and financial well-being a priority through spending quality time with our dogs. Sugar’s stories and her pupcake recipes are at the central focus of our products.

How was I going to take care of my bills? How was I going to take care of Sugar’s living expenses? Dog mom adulting is fun but comes with responsibilities. Enter Dog Mom Math. My new budgeting and financial planning strategy.
Dog Mom Math is about making thoughtful, intentional money decisions that balance your dog’s needs with achieving your goals—turning everyday choices into financial wins.
It also became the fresh start I needed, using the ingredients I had right in front of me. My kitchen. My pen. And, my dog, Sugar.
I baked my first pupcake from a random recipe I found on the internet and wrote about Sugar’s experience with it. From that, Pupcake Sugar and the world of Dog Mom Math was born.
That’s the funny thing about starting from scratch–you never know where it’ll take you. And I’m so happy that it led me here. So, get cozy with your dog, and turn some Dog Mom Math into some amazing stories.

This is Sugar, my adorable toy poodle. She’s the inspiration behind every recipe, story, and vibe behind Pupcake Sugar. Sugar is energetic, fun-loving, smart, curious, and reminds me daily to find joy in the little moments. She also loves pupcakes, which is one of our favorite love languages.
