There are three basic rules to hosting an Easter egg hunt for you and your pups.
USE PLASTIC EGGS
You don’t need to save these eggs in the fridge. They come in every color under the sun. And, if they happen to break or crack, there’s no real mess to clean up. Plus, you can hide treats and prizes in these eggs to add some excitement to the hunt.
FIND A THEME
I’m always down for adding some extra flavor or a little more spice to an event. Creating a theme will turn your Easter egg hunt to a full out experience. Extra credit and a special prize to the pup who really understands the assignment.
ALWAYS INCLUDE PUPCAKES
Ok. You knew that was coming. What’s an Easter egg hunt without a few pupcakes? Pupcakes are my treat of choice to hide in the in Easter egg. Mini pupcakes are the perfect size and fit in the normal sized Easter egg. Baking a few different recipes will also add some variety to your hunt.
At least these are the basic rules I followed for Pupcake Sugar’s “On the Hunt” event this year.
“On the Hunt” is an Easter Egg hunt and a celebration of all things pupcake. Dogs come ready to mix and mingle as well as fill their baskets with some pupcake filled Easter eggs. And let’s not forget that every pup comes decked out in apricot and white inspired by the Pupcake Sugar colors. You know how we are. The one thing we pups are going to do is work a theme.
Honestly, the best part of “On the Hunt” wasn’t finding the eggs. It was the hunt itself that will remain etched in our minds. Imagine, if you will, a group of pups running through the park trying to get their eyes on any eggs they could.
Some dogs kept it cute and grabbed the closest ones they could find. While other dogs searched high and low and dug a little deep to find as many as they could. I never laughed so hard in my life. Even Ginger lost a shoe trying to dive for an egg. In the words of Karen Salmansohn…
Hold the vision. Drop the excuses. Remember the why. Swerve around the obstacles. Trust the process.
Because it wasn’t finding the eggs that created these amazing memories. It was the process it took to find them. Plus, we even added a few golden eggs to add a little flavor to the mix.
The golden eggs were special. While the pastel eggs were filled with plain pupcakes, the golden eggs were filled with carrot cake pupcakes with a touch of peanut butter. I scattered a few of these in the park to make the hunt more interesting. Finding these eggs took a little longer, but the result was a special treat that very few pups at “On the Hunt” got a chance to experience.
At the end of the day, Pupcake Sugar “On the Hunt” was amazing. We pups got the chance to relive our puppy past time and fill our Easter Egg baskets with a ton of goodies. And, a chance to spend some much-needed time making some amazing memories. But, I’d love to hear from you.
