5 Ways to Completely Win Love Your Pet Day

5 Ways to completely win #loveyourpetday

You know why I heart Love Your Pet Day? It’s a day I get to relax, get pampered, and love on myself for a change.

Honestly, up until now this holiday has been pretty blah for me.  The life of a pup business owner is always extremely busy.  So, I usually spend the day on the couch catching up on all the sleep followed by a quick selfie.

But this year, I’m winning Love Your Pet Day altogether.  And, with these five tips, every pup can definitely do the same.

FIRST STOP…I’M GETTING PAMPERED

As pups, we’ve got a lot of love to give.  However, today I’m loving all over myself.  A massage, manicure and pedicure and a new hairstyle is this pup business owner’s favorite way to unwind.  A new look or a refresher on your current one always makes for a great self-love fest.  And, if going to a spa isn’t an option, a little in-home DIY pampering in your favorite robe works well too.

INSTEAD OF BAKING PUPCAKES…I’M INDULGING IN ONE

I spend most of my time baking pupcakes.  Today, I’m going to forget counting pup-calories for a brief minute and treat myself to my favorite dessert.  Whether sweet or savory, there’s nothing like kicking your paws up and relaxing with your favorite treat.  Wanna indulge with me?  Check out the recipe for these Strawberry Parfait Pupcakes

I’M DISCONNECTING FROM TECH…WELL AT LEAST FOR AN HOUR

Yes.  I love catching up with my favorite pup celebrities or liking your BFF (Best Fur Friend’s) Instagram pictures.  However, today is about me.  Think about it.  When your paws are busy scrolling through social media, you could be missing out on the opportunity to have fun being amazing.  So, I’m spending at least an hour away from all devices and tapping into my creativity.  You’ll be surprised what you come up with when your imagination gets room to play.

I’M AVOIDING PUP-FOMO

Maybe I’ll go for a walk.  Head to “yappy hour.”  Attend that “Doga” class I’ve been wanting to try.  Whatever I decide to do, I’m getting out of the house.  Instead of suffering from Pup-FOMO and watching other pups having fun on social media, I’m going to go out and make my own fun.  I’ve even invited my BFF to come with me.

I’M GOING GOAL DIGGING

Who said you only set goals for New Year’s?  As any pup business owner knows, there’s no time like the present to set a goal you want to achieve.  However, you can’t really identify a goal when you feel burned out or stressed.  So, today I’m asking myself, “what do I want to accomplish?”  After a fun and relaxing day, I’ll be able to start the next day fresh and ready to start digging.

Now that I think about it, doing one or more of these things will help me win every day, not just National Pet Day.  As pup business owners and pup-creatives we should be finding new ways to treat and show unconditional love to ourselves daily.  If we don’t, how can we expect others to love us for the pups we really are.

My goal is to definitely include more “me time” into my schedule.  And I hope you plan to do the same.  It’s the best form of puppy love you can give yourself.  So, I’d also love to hear how other pups relax.
