For my birthday, Mom got me a ball.
Sure, it’s green and fuzzy like any other tennis ball. However, it’s different from any ball I’ve seen before. This ball is pure magic. Why? It can simply roll around on the floor all by itself. No one has to throw it, push it or even tap it. The ball has got a mind of its own.
This new ball is intriguing. Anytime Mom puts it down on the floor, I have to follow it. Where will it go? When will it move? What will it accidentally bump into? I make it a point to investigate.
The minute that ball starts rolling all other noises go silent and other activities fade into the background. I’m not interested in responding to the dog barking down the block. I forget that Mom is cooking in the kitchen. In fact, I even forget to follow Mom around as she walks from room to room.
It’s just me and my new ball.
Following my ball is my escape. It’s my moment to forget everything going on around me and live in the moment. It’s my time to focus on what I want to do. Following this ball is my time in the lab. You see, one of my philosophies is…
Every woman needs a lab.
Now when I say lab, I’m not talking about a dog. Don’t get me wrong. Labs are cool dogs to be with, but I’m talking about laboratory. Whether it’s full of tubes and beakers, or not. Our laboratory is our place to get lost and work on something we love to do.
Our labs are a place for us to channel our feminine energy and creative spirit. It’s the time we ladies, whether human or pup, can spend on our hobbies or something that peaks our interest. However, a lab is more than just a creative space.
Your lab, my lab, anyone’s lab is a place to feel a sense of accomplishment. It’s our place to work out ideas and turn our thoughts into something real. Our labs are even great practice for thinking on our feet and problem solving. The best part. Labs aren’t stagnant to one room or place. We can build our labs anywhere that we feel inspired to create.
Our labs give us the power to exercise our intrinsic feeling. It helps with those times when we feel stuck, like when in a rut or in a funk. Working in our labs helps us continue to move forward as we figure out a solution. Finding out what intrinsically motivates you can give you the confidence to try anything. And as we continue to feel good and accomplished on the inside, we’ll shine bright on the outside.
As for this new ball. I finally caught it and then it rolled away. I caught it again, and it rolled away. I’m definitely starting to see a pattern here. But, that’s ok. It only means I get to spend a little more time in my lab as I find new ways to catch the ball.
