I find pleasure in the little things. Grabbing the potato chip Mom accidentally drops on the floor. The excitement of hearing the doorbell ring. And, even trying to get the knot out of the handkerchief my groomer tied around my neck. However, there is one other thing that brings me a lot of pleasure.
I find pleasure in laundry day.
It’s a special time that only comes around every few weeks. Laundry day completely gets me excited. As soon as Mom pulls out the hamper, I’m ready to get this joyful day rolling.
Yesterday, Mom pulled out the hamper for the first time in about two weeks. As she started separating the clothes, I watched eagerly. Darks over here, delicates in this pile, and towels in the corner. I always sit in amazement as Mom tosses each article of clothing into the air, and it lands safely in its designated pile.
She put the first load of clothes in the washing machine and left the other clothes sitting in her closet. As Mom disappeared into the kitchen to do some chores, I took the opportunity to make myself nice and comfy on the pile of jeans sitting in her closet.
It’s the perfect place to chill. The jeans are warm and smell just like Mom. What better place to get in a little “me” time.
After 10 minutes, Mom reappeared to find me resting in my newfound “me time” space. Quiet, cozy, and finding pleasure in every minute alone with my thoughts. As Alfred Mercier stated…
“What we learn with pleasure we never forget.” Share on XIt’s true. Pleasure is more than doing what makes you feel good. It’s even more than happiness and bliss. Pleasure is actually the place where memories are born. Even more so, pleasure creates stories that we pass from one pup (or human) to the next. Those stories become lessons that stay ingrained in us forever.
So, find your pleasure. Life should bring you tons. Even if it’s resting on top of a pile of jeans waiting to be washed. Discovering your pleasure will give you memories and stories for years to come. It’ll also serve as life lessons, which lead to growth and wisdom. You know what else brings me pleasure?
