How To Make Peanut Butter

Make Peanut Butter

“This…ain’t workin.”

Last week, I got a bark from The Waggies, which is an association for pup business owners and pups that working in the business community.  They usually throw an annual New Year’s Eve party, but decided to skip it this year.  Instead they thought it would be a great idea to send their members gift boxes to celebrate the new year.  The Waggies thought my pupcakes would be a perfect addition.

I was extremely excited and couldn’t wait to get started.  And, that wait wasn’t that long because they needed these pupcakes in one day.

“Tomorrow,” I thought, “that’s crazy.”  What’s even crazier is that I woofed “yes” and before I knew it I was committed to baking 250 pupcakes by noon tomorrow.  What on earth was I thinking?

Under normal circumstances, I’d decline this order.  A pupcake order of this size will take at least a week for us to prepare.  Especially, if you want them individually boxed and gift wrapped.  Plus, I was limited on ingredients.  Inventory wasn’t going to be stocked until after the order needed to be completed.  But, it’s The Waggies.  The pup-licity alone can lead to more opportunities for Pupcake Sugar.

So, I did what any pup business owner would do, make it work.

My team and I stayed up all night to bake these pupcakes.  And, minus a few dropped pupcakes and a couple torn boxes, we got the order done.  Plus, The Waggies loved them.  However, the last-minute scramble is not how I live my life.  In the words of Maya Angelou…

The question is not how to survive, but how to thrive with passion, compassion, humor and style.

Scrambling is not what I call thriving.  Although, I must admit I did find the humor in tripping over my own paws and almost knocking down a stack of pupcake boxes.  Baking pupcakes will definitely teach you that everything has its own recipe.  Its own ingredients that makes it work.  However, you have to adjust the recipe to fit your taste for it to work.  So, that’s exactly what I did.

“Crazy idea” alert.  It was time to switch up the recipe.  A night of no sleep was the motivation I needed to change it up a bit.  So, I created a plan specifically for last minute specialty orders like the one I got from The Waggies.  This way I have a plan when any last-minute orders come my way.  But, I’d love to hear from you.

What’s your motivation to switch up a recipe?

So, what’s my plan?  Let’s dish over pupcakes.  My plans along with one of my favorite pupcake recipes is right in your inbox.
