Monthly Dish: Sugar’s Sweet Cake Pupcakes

Sugar's Sweet Cake Pupcakes

This month is all about going after those goals we set for ourselves in the new year.  Financial goals.  Career goals.  Family goals.  Health goals.  But those goals that we created for ourselves isn’t enough.  Our drive, consistency, and discipline set the tone for how we achieve them.

In her own way, Sugar has become one of my accountability partners.  Our daily walks are a reminder to take a break.  Sugar’s pet care expenses have made me more intentional with my budget.  And her love of food has forced me to stretch my creativity with baking pupcakes.

So, this month’s dish, Sugar’s Sweet Cake Pupcakes, are dedicated to setting goals and celebrating our dogs that in their own way, hold us accountable to achieving them.  The recipe comes straight from our eBook, Pupcake Soul: Recipes to Celebrate Us and a Few Love Stories to Go with Them.

ABOUT THE SUGAR’S SWEET CAKE PUPCAKES

These pupcakes are sweet, hence the name.  The star ingredients for these Sugar Sweet Cake Pupcake are honey, cinnamon, and ginger.  Honey brings the sweet to these pupcakes.  It’s rich in antioxidants, which can help protect your dog’s body cells from damage.  Cinnamon baked to dog treats in small amounts can have health benefits.  It’s high in antioxidants, can reduce inflammation, promotes heart health, and may relieve digestive discomfort.  Ginger has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.  It can be used as a natural method to relieve conditions like upset stomach or joint pain.

WHEN TO BAKE THESE SUGAR’S SWEET CAKE PUPCAKES

These Sugar’s Sweet Cake Pupcakes are amazing for those dogs who have a sweet tooth.  Especially, during the holiday season.  In fact, I always give Sugar a dog-friendly treat to ring in the new year.  Whether we’re watching the ball drops over Time Square or the next day after we get up, Sugar gets her own treat to toast making it to a new year.  So, if you’re ringing in the new year at home with your dog, these pupcakes make a great treat for your dog to have while you toast the new year.

BAKING BARKFIRMATION & BEING DISCIPLINED

“My discipline creates dough.”  Our habits become our discipline.  Discipline creates the path to help us achieve our goal.  Every day is a chance for us to create habits that will take us one step closer to achieving them.  Those habits also create experiences that allow us to learn and create memories.  As we move into a new year, focus on your discipline, build better habits, but most importantly find joy and love in the journey.  And remember.  With every step in that journey, your dog is there rooting for you every step of the way.

BEFORE YOU GET STARTED

I started Pupcake Sugar when I was laid off and it helped me rediscover my own creative talents.  Plus, I could save a little money on store bought treats I’d been buying for Sugar too.  Hence, how I turned Sugar’s daily shenanigans into a brand.  I created an illustrated character inspired by her and her love of pupcakes.  Sugar’s character is a “pupcakepreneur” that owns and operates her own pupcakery called Pupcake Sugar.

Sugar shares her stories of life, love, and favorite pupcake recipes.  We invite you to her world.  Sign up for the Pupcake Sugar mailing list to get Sugar’s favorite birthday pupcake recipe to try at home with your dog.  Also, check out the Shop page for more of Sugar’s pupcake recipes and the stories that inspired them.

As with any dog treat, these Sugar’s Sweet Cake Pupcakes should be given to your dog in moderation.  They should not replace or serve as your dog’s primary diet.  Please consult with your veterinarian on your dog’s diet.
