My calendar has been jammed packed with events, meetings and other responsibilities all week.
Quite honestly, most of my weeks look like this. I almost think one of the requirements to being a pup business owner is constantly juggling your schedule to cover as much ground as possible. They definitely don’t teach that in pup college.
Although it doesn’t always seem like it, I love having a busy schedule. I’ve always been a pup that loves being in the mix of things. It keeps life interesting. And, it’s exactly what I asked for with my pup business. So, how can I not love it?
However, my busy schedule always includes some sort of social life. Life is too short and too amazing to not get out and live it. No matter how busy I get, I always make sure I get out for a little fun once and awhile. Every pupcake I bake is tied to a story. And, who wants stories full of work schedules and meetings? Not this pup.
Ironically enough, my BFF’s (Best Fur Friends) are just as ambitious and busy as I am. So, any time me and my pups tried to get together, it would take at least an hour to determine a date and time that worked for everyone’s schedule. If I was free, my best pup Cynn would be away on a pup business trip. If my pup friend Ginger was available for dinner, Cayenne could only make it for lunch.
In fact, we’d finally figure out a time that worked for all of us. We’d get together, have a great time and say to one another “we need to do this more often.” Then neither one of us would even remotely try to schedule for the next several months.
It became ridiculous. So much so, that we would go for months without scheduling anything. Who really wants to add another thing to juggle onto their already busy schedule?
A few years ago, while at dinner, we all decided to put an end to these long stretches before we see each other again. Sure, we bark to each other on the phone, but we know it’s just as important for us to see each other in person. We’ve missed too many promotions, new boyfriend and new pup spa recommendations with each other. As the saying goes…
With friends and pupcakes, life never gets boring!
And, just like it’s boring to watch a pup eat a pupcake instead of eating it yourself, solely relying on bark-versations over the phone is boring if you can’t see your pup friends in person from time to time.
So, we all decided to start our annual Pupcake Jawn. Every year at the same time we would get together, go on a trip, indulge in a pupcake or two (we’re not judging) and, most importantly, have some fun with each other. It was our time to let loose, relax our paws and have whatever fun adventure we wanted to do and tell stories about it later.
The Pupcake Jawn gave us a chance for us to take a break from every pup title we seem to be juggling back at home. It also gave us something to look forward to. And, since it was the same time every year, we’d always have it on our calendars.
Our newly adopted Pupcake Jawn also included making time to get together for each other’s birthday. Our birthdays come at the same time each year. So, each one of us designated what day we’d always get together to celebrate her birthday. This way we’d always have that day blocked off on our calendar to hang out.
As we got up from the table that day, all of us felt extremely relieved and excited. We had managed to not only set up a date for our next get together, but we pups also managed to create 5 times every year that we’d be able to see each other and catch up.
Whether it’s juggling work, family, school or this pup life in general, the Pupcake Jawn is our time. Our time to just be in each other’s company and to be ourselves. To laugh. Be silly. Even cry if we need to. It’s our pup girlfriend time that we all need to nourish the soul…and eat pupcakes.
