There’s this big purple bag that lives in the back of Mom’s closet. It’s got four wheels, a huge zipper, and a handle that goes up and down with the push of a button.
I was 6 months old the first time I caught sight of that bag. The moment Mom pulled it out of the closet and plopped it on her bed, I was intrigued. I watched (and sniffed) in amazement as she filled it with clothes, shoes, and even that hot iron she uses for her hair.
Once she was done, that bag sat in the corner of the room until the next morning. When Mom got up, she got dressed, loaded that purple bag into the car, and before I knew it we were headed to Grandma’s. She hugged me goodbye and was gone from my life for the next 3 days.
I’ve always been extremely observant.
I love to watch and listen to everything going on around me. I’ve also never been afraid to sniff around either. I love to learn. However, I can’t read and most humans don’t understand the international language of dog “barks.” So, reading a book, searching through a phone, or even asking Alexa for information is out of the question.
I choose to take a simpler approach to learning. I gain knowledge by simply observing the world. Experiencing the sights, sounds, and the smells is where my knowledge comes from. Truthfully…
Knowledge is power.
It’s a tool. The knowledge we gain shows us not just how things are now, but also opens our eyes to the possibility of how things can be. Most importantly, knowledge is the pathway to wisdom. As Anthony Douglas Williams stated…
“Knowledge comes from learning. Wisdom comes from living.” Share on XWisdom is even more powerful. It’s something that no one can take from you because it comes from your own personal experiences. Wisdom is taking everything you’ve learned and observed and applying it to your own life. So when Mom pulls out that purple bag, I’m wise enough to know to stay close to her side.
Quality time is absolutely necessary because I won’t see her for a few days. In fact, talking about this purple bag makes me miss her even though she’s right in the next room. So, I’m headed over to snuggle with her now. And…
