My first pupcake was a complete flop. I had no clue what I was doing. I had the bright idea to take this dog treat recipe I found on Google and bake it like a cupcake. Well, I guess the first pupcake is the hardest if you don’t quite know what you’re doing. These pupcakes didn’t even rise is the oven. But, I was determined to get it right. So, I researched, got my recipe together, and decided to try to bake again.
And, here we are. Several pupcake recipes later and still baking. So, if you’re getting ready to attempt your first pupcake, here are three quick tips to get you started.
CHOOSE A RECIPE ALIGNED TO YOUR DOG’S DIET
There are a ton of recipes out there. But, all of them may not be right for your dog. Your dog’s diet is a huge part of the equation. So, you want to make sure you choose something that your dog will not only enjoy, but will align to your dog’s dietary needs. Our blog post on How to Choose the Right Pupcake Recipe will also help guide your recipe decision.
START SIMPLE
Some pupcake recipes are short and sweet. Others have a few more steps. Each one can lead to great experience for your dog. But, if it’s your first time. Keep it simple. A recipe with fewer ingredients usually means less steps to follow. This can make baking your first pupcake less intimidating. Especially, if you’re new to baking altogether. The Taste Suite has a simple recipe with just a few ingredients and steps.
DON’T RUSH THE PROCESS
Never bake pupcakes when you’re in a rush. If this is your first time, give yourself a little grace period to try out the recipe. When you’re trying anything for the first time, it can take you a little longer. Especially, when directions are involved. So, you want to give yourself time to move through it without needing to rush to something else. An hour is about the average time for prepping, baking, and frosting for a first time pupcake baker.
