3 Unbreakable Rules to Baking Pupcakes

Homemade Dog Treats

There are three unbreakable rules to baking pupcakes.

However, before I get to them, I’ll let you in on a little secret.  Baking pupcakes is self-care.  It’s true.  Spa days, brunches with your BFFs, and doga classes have all made an appearance during my #SelfCareSunday routine.  But, baking pupcakes is actually one of my favorites.

When I’m trying out a new pupcake recipe or remixing an old one, it’s so easy for me lose myself in the moment.  Before I know it, it’s two hours later and I’ve got a new dessert to enjoy.  Every worry I had in the world goes away as I’m mixing, pouring, and decorating.

So, when I was thinking of a new event to host at Pupcake Sugar, a pupcake baking class was the perfect “crazy idea.”  Ok.  It’s really not that “crazy.”  However, giving pups a chance to learn something new, be creative, and put a new twist on their #SelfCareSunday is barking exciting for me.  In the words of Thomas Keller…

A recipe has no soul. You, as the cook, must bring soul to a recipe.

So, for every pupcake baking class, I promise everyone one thing.  I bring the recipe as long as you bring the flavor.  The pupcake recipe is the start, but the flavor is your own twist, creativity, and love you bring to that pupcake.  But, before we get started, there are three unbreakable rules in pupcake baking that every pup must remember.

BAKING IS A FEELING

Yes.  Baking pupcakes is a form of self-care.  So, you have to put love in to it.  Trust me.  Any pup can taste the love that was put into the pupcakes you bake.  Somehow the pupcakes taste better with it.  However, if you’re not in the pupcake baking mood, your pupcakes won’t turn out right.  Trust me.  Especially, if you’re trying out a new recipe.  It doesn’t matter how closely you follow the recipe, if your heart isn’t in it the pupcakes won’t even taste the same.

PUPCAKES TAKE PATIENCE

Let’s paws and reflect on the fact that “a watched pupcake never rises.”  No matter what, you can’t rush the baking process.  Pupcakes are done when they’re done.  Also, that’s a part of the pupcake self-care ritual.  Baking them gives you the chance to live in the moment.  So, no matter what pupcake recipe you’re baking, remember patience is key.

INGREDIENTS MATTER

Ingredients by themselves are just that.  Ingredients.  However, when you combine those ingredients together you can create pupcake magic.  Each ingredient you use in pupcakes brings its own flavor.  Are you feeling savory or sweet?  Tropical or nostalgic?  Plain or daring?  Use those ingredients to cater to your mood.  This is the chance to explore your creativity.

Now, that we’ve got the rules out of the way, let’s get into baking these Banana French Toast Pupcakes shall we?  Like I say with every class.  I bring the recipe, you bring the flavor.  Here’s your permission to lose yourself in your own baking and take care of you.  And, let’s dish about it.

What’s your favorite thing about baking pupcakes?  How do you see it as a self-care practice?
