Believe it or not. This quarantine has brought me a lot of great things.
I’ve gotten in a nap during the day, which never happens. I’ve gotten the chance to binge watch my favorite shows. And, my BFFs and I have had more chances to girls’ nights out than we’ve been able to have in years. Ok. They’ve been virtual girls’ night outs, but that’s not the point.
When you have ambitious pups as BFFs, it takes a lot of maneuvering to get everyone together. So, this quarantine has really given us a chance to have that much needed quality BFF time more often.
If you haven’t guessed by now, I’ve got a lot of extra time on my paws thanks to this quarantine.
Let’s be real. There are only so many movies I can binge watch. Because I have to limit my secret trips to Woof Foods, there are only so many pupcakes I can bake. And since I already have these Pup-tella Pupcakes in the freezer, I can pull them out for a snack without even baking a new batch.
However, thanks to this quarantine, every day is starting to look the same. And, life was starting to get boring. So, like any pup business owner, I decided to flip that boredom into a real investment. As the saying goes…
You will never go broke from investing in yourself.
So, today I’m sharing five ways you can invest in yourself without leaving the comfort of your home.
TAKE AN ONLINE COURSE
One of the best ways to invest in yourself is to learn something new. If we’re all stuck in the house, why not take an online class? You can learn a new skill in the comfort of your own pup-jamas. And since you’re human is probably stuck in back-to-back Zoom meetings anyway, pull out that pup laptop hiding under your bed and start learning something new.
WORK ON YOUR “CRAZY IDEA”
We all have that “crazy idea” that we never had the time to start. You know? The one dream we kept putting off to the side because barking life got in the way. Or, the goal we’d start working on “if we only had the time.” Well, now you’ve got it. So, take a break from binge watching Pup-flix and use this time to work on building your “crazy idea.”
CREATE A FINANCIAL PLAN
Pup financial planning is a must. Especially, with the way the world is changing. You never know when you’re going to need a few extra nudges to handle some of those unexpected expenses. So, use this time to get your pup finances in order. Create or revise your budget. Develop your short and long-term financial goals. Investigate ways to save nudges and reduce your expenses. Having your finances in check is always reassuring, even in a time of uncertainty.
WORK ON YOUR EMOTIONAL BUDGET
An emotional budget is the amount of time and energy we have to spend on something as well as how it affects our pup well-being. Loosely translated. It’s the decision that you’re no longer available for the things that make you feel like dog s**t. And since I have this free time on my paws, one of my biggest investments is reflecting on what should go into the emotional budget and what I need to throw out. This way I come out of this quarantine refreshed and free from unnecessary pup drama.
BUY SOMETHING ONLINE
In a nutshell, “treat yo’ self.” There’s nothing wrong with a little online retail therapy. Whether you decide to buy something for yourself or treat someone else to something that’ll bring them joy, then it’s definitely worth it. And remember that “crazy idea” you have, how about treating yourself to something that’ll help you get it started.
Quarantine or no quarantine, investing in yourself is a great thing for every pup. And, it doesn’t take a whole lot of nudges either. You can invest in yourself with the things you have right in front of you. Even if it’s as simple as creating 5 minutes of “me-time” for yourself. So, I’d love to hear from you.
