“Why didn’t I listen to my gut?”
The Gut Always Tells The Truth
“Why didn’t I listen to my gut?” Sugar barked to herself as she stared at the counter. “If I’d listened, I wouldn’t have bought so much food.” Sugar loves roaming the farmer’s market down the street from her pupcakery. She finds so many amazing ingredients for her pupcakes there. But this time she went a little overboard.
Sugar got lost in the aromas and the “good deal” on fresh produce that she didn’t even think how she was going to use them for her pupcakes. It wasn’t until she saw all the ingredients spread out on the counter. Sugar also realized that “none of these ingredients will work for my menu.”
However, questioning her purchase decisions was going to have to wait. The block party planning meeting was getting ready to start.
Meeting Check Out
Every year, the dog business owners on the block host a community block party for the dogs in the neighborhood. The goal of the block party is to help dogs connect with one another. As the new business on the block, Sugar had to host the planning meeting at her pupcakery.
Sugar sat in the meeting for 30 minutes listening dogs bark back and forth about what the theme should be. One dog suggested doga in the park. But “It’s too hot for all that.” Another dog barked.
Sugar completely checked out of the meeting altogether. She was too busy wondering, “What the bark am I going to do with this food?” I wasn’t until Beet from Root & Carrot suggested a “Yappy Hour” theme that Sugar checked back into the meeting.
Yappy Hour Inspiration
“That’s perfect!” one of the dog business owners barked. “Dogs around here love a good Yappy Hour. Especially, after work.” But this was a block party and wasn’t just for the adult dogs in the neighborhood. So, the business had to figure out ways to make it family friendly. “We can’t have the puppies taking shots.” Another dog barked.
Sugar instantly thought of her Yappy Hour celebration with her BFFs. A while ago, Sugar soft launched a pupcakery menu inspired by her friends. She created some mocktail inspired pupcake recipes and named them after her friends and family.
Ultimately, Sugar decided to go with a different vibe for her pupcakery menu. But she still has the recipes in one of her pupcake recipe books.
“I can make some mocktail inspired pupcakes.” Sugar barked. “This way the adult dogs and the puppies can enjoy a few treats.” In her mind, Sugar also thought it’d be a good way to get rid of all that extra food she bought.
After the meeting, Sugar spent time looking through her Yappy Hour recipe book. Thanks to all that food she bought from the farmer’s market, she has all the ingredients she needs to bake her Cayenne’s Game Changer Pupcakes.
It’s Too Hot
The block party was amazing. But it was hot. The news forecasted record highs. Luckily, Sugar prepped and baked her pupcakes the night before. So, all she had to do was add the filling for her Cayenne’s Game Changer Pupcakes.
But after finishing up her pupcakes she had cantaloupe and watermelon left. And Sugar hates to waste food. So, she blended the leftover watermelon and cantaloupe in the blender, placed them in cups, and stored them in her portable freezer.
During the block party, any dog that bought one of Sugar’s pupcakes also got a frozen fruit slush cup as an extra treat. Sugar loved connecting with the dogs in the neighborhood and barking about her pupcakery. More importantly, she got to share love with what she had; some extra fruits and veggies from the farmer’s market.
