Monthly Dish: Pear Granola Pupcakes

Pear Granola Pupcakes

April is financial literacy month.  And with all the rain we’ve been getting (not to mention an earthquake), it’s a great time to stay in and find some creative ways to save some money.  Especially, since Sugar hates going outside in the rain, snow, or any type of precipitation.

So, this month’s Pear Granola Pupcakes are dedicated to practicing financial wellness and saving for a rainy day (pun intended).

ABOUT THE PEAR GRANOLA PUPCAKE INGREDIENTS

The main attraction for these pupcakes is the pear-cinnamon combination.  Pears are rich in Vitamin C and A.  They are also high in fiber, which make them a healthy snack for dogs in moderation.  The cinnamon gives these pairs an extra aroma, which makes them a great exercise for your dog’s senses.  These pupcakes also include oatmeal, which is also rich in fiber, vitamin B, iron, and zinc.  The high fiber content in oatmeal helps promote good digestion.

WHEN TO BAKE THESE PEAR GRANOLA PUPCAKES

These pupcakes are great to bake during a rainy day or when you’re stuck indoors.  The pears are not only a sweet treat for your dog, but the cinnamon gives your dog a chance to sniff around when they can’t go out the house.  I got the idea for this recipe because I had some extra pears in my refrigerator.  The pears would’ve gone bad if I didn’t use them.  So, baking these pupcakes was a great way to repurpose them.  Baking pupcakes are a great way to save a few bucks because you can bake them with simple ingredients you have around the house.

BAKING BARKFIRMATION & SAVING MONEY

“We got pupcakes at home.”  Staying indoors is not always a bad thing.  Sometimes it’s a great way to help you identify your goals and give you a chance to get your finances in check.  In fact, The Spruce Pets reports that dog parents can spend anywhere from $20 to $60 per month on food expenses, including treats.  However, baking pupcakes with the ingredients you have in your home is a great way to not only save a few dollars (for a rainy day), but also give your dog a gourmet style treats at a fraction of the cost.  Plus, freshly baked pupcakes freeze and can last longer.

WHERE TO GET THE PEAR GRANOLA PUPCAKE RECIPE

This pupcake recipe was created from scratch and with love with pears and a few extra ingredients I had in the house.  The recipe is below.  Plus, we’d love to hear your pupcake story.  How do you spend rainy days with your dog?  What are some ways you save money? BEFORE YOU GET STARTED

I started Pupcake Sugar when I was laid off and it helped me rediscover my own creative talents.  Plus, I could save a little money on store bought treats I’d been buying for Sugar too.  Hence, how I turned Sugar’s daily shenanigans into a brand.  I created an illustrated character inspired by her and her love of pupcakes.  Sugar’s character is a “pupcakepreneur” that owns and operates her own pupcakery called Pupcake Sugar.  I know.  That was a tongue twister.  But stay with me.

Sugar shares her stories of life, love, and favorite pupcake recipes.  We invite you to her world.  Sign up for the Pupcake Sugar mailing list to get Sugar’s favorite birthday pupcake recipe to try at home with your dog.  Also, check out the Shop page for more of Sugar’s pupcake recipes and the stories that inspired them.

As with any dog treat, these Pear Granola Pupcakes should be given to your dog in moderation.  They should not replace or serve as your dog’s primary diet.  Please consult with your veterinarian on your dog’s diet.
