I guess it’s true what they say, opportunity begets opportunity.
Speaking at Puppy Kindergarten, led to a host of new requests to speak at other engagements. These speaking engagements also led to an influx of request for pupcakes and an increase in Pupcake Sugar membership.
The new opportunities were a dream come true. However, as I sat in my office trying to find a folder I needed I could only think of one thing…
“How did I get here?”
No. I’m not talking about some self-reflection on how I went from an idea to being completely booked with great opportunities. I’m talking about my cluttered office.
There were several toys sitting in the corner, piles of papers stacked on the table and a million pupcake recipe notes scattered everywhere. Whether they were stashed in drawers or out in the open for everyone to see, there were project folders everywhere.
One day I said to myself, “enough is enough.” I had convinced myself that this was organized chaos for far too long. It was time for me to clean house.
As a pup business owner, you’re constantly busy. There’s always a project, event or other activity to attend. And, by the time your day is through, it’s much easier to just toss a few papers in a drawer or throw some toys in a corner with thoughts of “getting to it later.” The irony is that “later” never comes and the clutter seems to grow.
However, I was getting ready to enter into a new phase in my journey. I knew there was no way I could enter into this new phase with all this clutter piling up right under my nose. So, in the words of Marie Kondo…
Life truly begins after you have put your house in order.
So, getting my “house” in order is certainly what I did. I blocked off several days on my calendar to make decluttering my absolute priority.
I spent those days tossing out papers, refiling folders, organizing pupcake recipe notes and finding a place for those dog toys sitting in the corner. There were so many moments of me asking myself, “why do I still have this?” or “I was wondering where I put this.” I guess it wasn’t organized chaos after all.
Ironically, with each pile of clutter I tossed out, I felt calmer and lighter. I felt a sense of freedom and joy. I even felt more accomplished in my pup business ownership journey. Decluttering allowed me to pup self-reflect on what was important to me and get rid of all of those things I was afraid to let go.
And, although I was completely tired from pawing through everything, this decluttering was exactly what I needed. I was entering a new phase in my life without any unnecessary baggage.
These Spinach Apple Pupcakes With Peanut Butter Cream Frosting are dedicated to decluttering your “home” as you enter into a new phase in your life.
