The Ultimate Gift Guide for Dog Mom’s Day

Dog Mom's Day Gift Guide

The countdown to Dog Mom’s Day has begun.  National Dog Mom’s Day was established in 2018 by Dig, which is a dating app for people who love dogs.  Dog Mom’s Day is always the 2nd Saturday of May, which means that Dog Mom’s Day falls on May 11th this year.

The holiday was started to celebrate and thank the women in our lives that love dogs.  This includes dog moms, foster dog moms, dog grand moms, and future dog moms who give love to pups every day.  And yes.  This includes those dog-loving aunties who love to love on their fur-phews and fur-nieces too.

So, in honor of Dog Mom’s Day, we’ve curated a special gift guide to help you celebrate.

BAKING INSPIRED GIFTS FOR DOG MOMS

It’s no secret that I love to bake.  Baking gives me a great outlet to express my creativity.  It has also helped me enhance my ability to practice patience and be more solutions oriented, especially during those moments when I’m not quite sure how a new recipe will turn out.  Baking pupcakes has also been a great way to bond with Sugar.  So, here are a few gifts that are great for the dog mom who loves to bake or once to give pupcake baking a try.

Baking Class Voucher – A voucher to a local or online baking class to help refine baking skills or learn new techniques. This is also a great idea for those dog moms who are new to baking and want a guided tutorial to get them started.

Pupcake Sugar Recipe eBooks – Baking for Sugar is fun for me. I love to try new recipes, and Sugar loves to sample them.  These recipe eBooks are designed for dog moms to create their own baking experiences at home.  Whether you’re a beginner pupcake baker or a pro, each Pupcake Sugar eBook has a recipe for dog moms to try at home with the dog they love.

Baking Tools Set – A set of baking tools tailored for baking pupcakes or treats for the dog. Dog mom’s love desserts too. So, a baking tool set can also be a great gift for dog moms who want to bake something for themselves as well.

Cupcake Pans or Silicone Baking Mats – Building a kitchen full of baking supplies can be expensive. So, a gift with cupcake pans or silicone baking mats for dog moms to use is a great way to get her started in her baking journey.

Decorating Kit – An assortment of piping bags, tips, and other decorating tools. I use piping bags and tips a lot when decorating my pupcakes.  It helps take my pupcakes up a level.

Spice and Flavor Kit – Spices are expensive. So, a curated selection of dog-safe spices and flavors to start baking pupcakes.  Some spices to get started are cinnamon, ginger, peppermint, basil, and parsley.  Also note that you want to make sure that you are aware of your dog’s allergies before choosing a pupcake recipe for your dog.

SELF-CARE INSPIRED GIFTS FOR DOG MOMS

Self-care is necessary.  Spending quality time with your dog is a form of self-care.  Dog mommy-hood has health benefits.  In fact, caring for a dog can improve work performance, enrich personal relationships, and foster community engagement.  So, why not show some extra love with some self-care inspired Dog Mom’s Day gifts.

Love Taps by Pupcake SugarLove Taps by Pupcake Sugar  are interactive greeting cards designed to celebrate dog moms, grandmoms, and aunties who love to love on their fur babies. Each card has a QR code that unlocks a story featuring an illustrated toy poodle, Sugar, as she navigates love, life, and her career.  Sugar’s character is inspired by my dog, also named Sugar.  You can use Love Taps as affirmation cards, to create dog mommy and me time, and even to start your dog treat side-hustle.

Luxury Spa Day – Dog mom’s love our dogs. However, we don’t mind a little me time either.  So, a gift card for a treatment or day at the spa is a great choice.  It gives your dog mom a chance to relax and enjoy herself.

Yoga Class Pass – A pass to a yoga class in a studio or online is a nice self-care gift. Some studios may even offer doga classes for Dog Mom’s to take with their dogs.

Aromatherapy Diffuser Set or Candles – Aromatherapy is a great way to set the mood for your home. It’s one of the reasons I love baking so much because the spices and herbs used always create a nice aroma in the house.  So, an aroma therapy diffuser with some essential oils or a nice candle is a great gift.  Especially, for those days that your dog insists on going out in the rain.  It can help get rid of that wet dog smell.

Journal or Notebook – A beautiful journal or notebook for your dog mom to write down her reflections, goals, and track personal growth is nice. I’m someone who uses a journal.  I often use a journal to write down my ideas and draft some of Sugar’s stories.

Tea Sampler Box (or Calming Drink of Choice) – Drinking some tea (not spilling it) is a great way to relax. I’m someone who loves to have a cup of tea every night to wind down from my day.  If tea’s not her thing, treat her to her favorite wind down drink.  Whether it’s wine, coffee, hot chocolate, juice, or another drink, the thought goes a long way.

Silk Sleep Mask – A cute sleep mask to help for a restful sleep is nice. Bonus points if she gets a matching silk pajama set to go with it.

Self-Care Retreat Ticket – I’ve seen a lot of self-care and wellness trips popping up here lately. Sometimes we all need to get away to have a little time to ourselves to relax.  So, if she loves a good wellness retreat or has been hinting at the fact that she’d like to try one, this gift is perfect.

Customizable Wellness Planner – A planner to track wellness goals, habits, and self-care routines is a great idea for dog mom planner girls. It’s another way to not only promote self-care and wellness, but also hold us accountable for the goals we set for ourselves.

Art Therapy Kit – Art is a great way to express yourself. Drawing, painting, sculpting, etc. are great ways to be creative and practice mindfulness.  It’s a lot like baking.  So, whether you’re great at art or can only draw stick figures (this would be me), an art kit is a great way to give the gift of creativity and mindfulness.

LIFESTYLE INSPIRED GIFTS FOR DOG MOMS

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again.  Being a dog mom is dope.  Dog mommy-hood is a lifestyle that should be celebrated.  Dog Mom’s Day is a great way to celebrate that lifestyle and all the shenanigans that go along with it. Here are some Dog Mom’s Day gift ideas to celebrate dog mom lifestyle.

Athleisure Attire – Athleisure is more than just being comfortable, it’s about being stylish. As a dog mom, there’s usually a time when you’re rocking your athleisure gear.  Whether it’s walking your dog, chillin’ in the house, or even baking pupcakes, stylish is key.  So, a cute athleisure outfit is a nice gift idea for the stylish dog mom in your life.

Jewelry – Jewelry is always a great choice. Especially, if it celebrates her dog mom status and she can rock it with her outfit.

Stylish Tote Bag – I’m always on the move. I have a bag that I pretty much grab and take with me everywhere ago.  Including those times when Sugar’s riding along with me.  So, a stylish tote bag to carry all those dog mom essentials can be a great idea.

Fitness Tracker – A modern fitness tracker for dog moms to wear while their walking their dog, exercising, or any other fitness activity is a great way to promote wellness through quality time with your dog.

Coffee Table Book or Accent Piece – A beautifully illustrated coffee table book that celebrates dog mom lifestyle is a great idea, especially for those dog moms redecorating their homes. Love Taps by Pupcake Sugar are also a great value add because she can add them as an accent piece to her desk, night table, or end table.  The square cards fit nicely into a frame.

Gourmet Cooking Kit – Cooking is also a great way to express your creativity. Especially, if you try gourmet meals.  There are several gourmet cooking kits out there that allow people to practice their skills right at home and create their own family cooking experiences.

Dog Mommy & Me Photo Session – Sugar hates posing for the camera. However, there are times where she humors me during a dog mommy and me photo session.  A gift card for photo session is a great way to help her capture a few special moments or celebration for her and her dog.

Subscription Box – Give your dog mom a subscription to her favorite subscription box. Whether it’s wine, food, or other subscription packages, it’s a great chance to give her something she loves to celebrate.  It’s also a nice idea to give her a subscription box to something she’s been wanting to try.

Gardening Kit – For those dog moms who love to garden or who want to start, a gardening kit is a nice idea. There are even gardening kits that are geared towards those dog moms who want to try their hand at urban gardening.

Tech Gadgets for the Home – Life can get busy. So, innovative gadgets that can streamline daily tasks is a great idea for a gift.  Especially, if it gives her more time to spend with her dog.

Dog Mom’s Day is 10 days away.  We’d love to hear how you’re celebrating.  What do you want for Dog Mom’s Day?  Share your gift ideas and connect with us @pupcakesugar.

You’ll also get a chance to step into Sugar’s world.  I love my dog, Sugar, and her daily shenanigans make me laugh.  So, I created an illustrated character inspired by her and her love of pupcakes.  Sugar’s character is a “pupcakepreneur” that owns and operates her own pupcakery called Pupcake Sugar.  It’s a tongue twister, but it’s amazing what you can create when you let your imagination lead the way.
