If you’re getting ready for a major event, take my advice. Bake ahead of time and always keep a few pupcakes in the freezer. So, here are three things to remember when you’re freezing your pupcakes.
USE A FLAT CONTAINER WITH A LID
Sit your pupcakes upright in a flat container and cover with a lid. This will help your pupcakes keep their shape, especially if you’re using frosting. All you’ll have to do is remove them from the container and let them sit out for a few minutes prior to serving.
GIVE PUPCAKES A SHELF
Store all your pupcake containers on one shelf in the freezer. This keeps the pupcakes from getting lost among other foods stored in your freezer. Keeping all your pupcakes in one place will also make it easier for you to find them when you need them.
USE A LABEL
Add a label with the name of the pupcake flavor on each container. The label will help you keep inventory with what flavors you have. It might also be helpful to add how many pupcakes you’re storing in each container. This way you’ll know how many pupcakes you have.
It’s howl-arious though. Never in a million dog years did I think I’d be baking pupcakes for a living.
In fact, my goal after graduating from Huffton was to become the best pup marketing executive in history. But, here we are.
Every day I’m learning something new about business, pupcakes, and everything in between, including myself. My days are filled with firsts that always keep me on my paws. Like the time my ingredients didn’t come in on time for my First Love event.
First Love is a party I throw every year to thank all the pups that’ve helped me turn my daydreams into reality. The party is small and intimate, but the goal is to celebrate all the firsts that’ve helped Pupcake Sugar grow and flourish.
One of the highlights, of course, is my pupcake menu. I always include pupcake flavors that are associated with first experiences. This year’s First Love event included these Mac & Cheese Pupcakes, which were one of the first pupcakes I was actually paid to bake.
So, when I found out at the last minute that my ingredients might not make it in time for my event, my mind started racing. Do I cancel the event? What does that mean for my menu? What if I reschedule and pups can’t make it? My mind was racing in a hundred directions until I figured out how to create a last-minute menu that would work. In the words of Gina Carey…
A strong woman looks a challenge in the eye and gives it a wink.
My First Love event went off without a hitch. However, I decided from that moment on that I would always keep a few pupcakes in the freezer. And, if I’m planning a special event, I’ll bake earlier and freeze them. This way I can keep a stash of pupcakes in case my supply order doesn’t come in on time.
This is why we celebrate our firsts. If not for the great stories, the lessons you get from them are second to none. The takeaway here. “Stays ready, so you ain’t gotta get ready.” Now, I’d love to hear from you. So, let’s dish.
