2 Things You’ll Need For Your Next Workout Class

Workout Class

Anyone ever take Plum’s Ball Out workout class?

I have, and it is amazing.  Ok.  I’m not gonna lie.  The first time I took the class, I spent the first half wondering what I got myself into.  I spent the other half barking myself out of completely walking out the class altogether.  In fact, one pup did walk out.  I haven’t seen her since.

Ball Out was way outside of my comfort zone.  I’d taken several doga classes, gone on a few hikes, and have taken a lot of dance classes.  However, this class was totally different.

The class was 50 minutes of balancing on a ball, stretching, and using a five-pound bag of flour as a weight.  I signed up for Plum’s Ball Out workout class because of the baking inspired workout theme with the flour.  I figured, I lift bags of flour all the time.  Kind of comes with the job of owning your own pupcakery.  However, I neglected to realize that I never do it while balancing my tail on a huge ball.  But, as the saying goes…

If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.

Based on what I was feeling, this class was definitely changing me.  My legs were quivering for the rest of the day after my first Ball Out class.   When I got home from the class, I spent 30 minutes sitting on my couch staring at the wall trying to bark myself into finish mapping out plans for B. F. Friendsgiving in a few weeks.

Although I was tired, as I sat on the couch I realized how accomplished I felt.  With all the discomfort, pain, and even a little self-doubt, I managed to get through it.

So, as “crazy” as it sounds, I decided to sign up for the class again.  And, again.  And, again.  Before I knew it, Ball Out was one of my favorite workout classes.  For any of you first timers taking Plum’s Ball Out class, I’ve got two suggestions.

DRINK WATER

It’s important that you stay hydrated.  The first time you take the class will not be easy.  You won’t be able to make it through the class without taking care of your body.  So, drink water before you come to class, during, and definitely after.

HAVE A PICTURE IN MIND

Ball Out had me ready to quit the first time I took it.  And if the class was any more than 50 minutes, barking myself through it wasn’t going to be enough.  Having a picture of a goal makes it easier for me to focus.  It helps me feel that I’m working towards something.   So, whether you bring a physical picture with you or keep it in your mind, use it.  I promise you it’ll help you get through the class a little easier.

Now, I’d love to hear from you.  So, let’s dish.

What’s one thing you accomplished today?  How did it make you feel when you accomplished it?
