I’ve always been more of an observer than a barker.
I can sit for hours and watch the world do its thing. In fact, I find it fascinating to observe how we all interact with each other. Pups with their humans. Pups with other pups. I’ve always found these interactions intriguing.
Up until recently, this has been a thing that I would do as I relax. A fun thing to do while I sit in the sun with a pupcake in one paw, watching, listening and learning. But, now my love for observing the world around me has been a key strength in my pup business ownership journey.
One day, while setting up my pupcakes, I heard two pups barking about how they were having trouble focusing for the past few weeks. Their humans were under a lot of pressure at their jobs, so these pups were spending more time focusing on their humans needs instead of their own.
These pups were spending more time in dog hotels when their humans were traveling for work. They were spending less time playing with their favorite toys and more time comforting their humans. They were so tired that when they could focus on themselves, all they could do was sleep.
In fact, I overheard one of the pups say that visiting Pupcake Sugar was the first time they’ve done something just for themselves in weeks. I also noticed that these pups kept fidgeting. One moment they were stretching out their paws. The next second, they’re stretching out their back to fix their posture. Watching and listening to these two pups interact, gave me an idea for my next pupcake pop-up.
I decided to host my first Pupcake Sugar Doga Series.
Doga is not only a great way to help pups learn how to focus, but it’s also a way to help pups get some much-needed exercise. The stretching alone with help them alleviate some of that stress they’re feeling. The first event was opened to a small group of pups. For an hour, pups stretched, meditated and relaxed their muscles.
The first Pupcake Sugar Doga Series was a huge success. So much so, that this became a monthly event. I even offered mini doga workouts on my website. If you know a pup that seems to sleep well or always gets in a good stretch, they’ve probably been to the event. Yogi Berra once said…
You can observe a lot by watching.
That’s so true. You’d be surprised how many pups don’t get that. Taking the time to watch and pay attention can always help you learn something new.
A pup once asked me, “what does it take to be a successful pup business owner?” Well, there are several factors that lead to success. And, honestly, those factors vary from pup to pup. However, I must say that watching and being in tune to the pup world around me has always been key to sparking great ideas.
I’ve also learned that pups aren’t going to always tell you exactly what they want or need. Sometimes they just don’t know. However, learning to observe will always help you identify those needs without any pup actually telling you.
These Carob Pupcakes With Carob Peanut Butter Cream Frosting are dedicated to taking a few minutes out of each day to observe the pup world around you.
And of course, we believe that every pupcake has a love story. So, while your favorite pup is PUPPY LOVIN’ on these pupcakes, we’d love to hear from you.
