Move-In Day
Finally. FINALLY. After years of baking pupcakes in her home kitchen, Sugar’s “Pupcakery Move-In Day” was here. And to think, this shift started with a sign hanging in a window that said, “Retail Space for Sale.” The moment Sugar saw that sign, she knew it was time to turn her love for baking pupcakes into an experience.
And now, she’s here. Unlocking the door to her own pupcakery. Not bad for a dog that got laid off a few years ago.
Let’s Get Cleaning Sugar’s Pupcakery
Sugar’s friends, Poppy and Cynnamon, boyfriend, Basil, and brother Cane even came to see the space and help her move in.
Sugar was ready to get started. But the moment she opened the door her excitement turned into a pinch of anxiety. There was “so much” that needed to be done. “Now what?” Where do I even start? And what the bark did I get myself into?” Sugar thought.
Sugar stood in the middle of her pupcakery in silence. She even questioned whether it was even a good idea to still move forward with her Dog Mom’s Day Brunch in a few weeks.
Sugar thought hosting a surprise brunch for her mom would be a great way to show her mom the space and soft launch her new pupcakery. She already sent out the invites and spent the money for all the ingredients. However, right now, this brunch seemed a bit too ambitious.
Sugar was ready to throw her paws up and walk out. And then she heard Cane’s voice, “Where do you want this box of cleaning supplies, Shug?”
Then it clicked. Start cleaning. Organizing this place will help it feel better. So, she and her dogs got to work. Sweeping, mopping, and tossing whatever that cardboard box in the corner was in the trash.
By the way, “whatever dog used this potty before we got here, Sugar thought, MISSED.” Luckily, Sugar packed the cleaning spray she used at home. It cleaned that stain right up.
The Logo is the Moment
After Sugar got that potty stain taken care of, the last thing she had to do was clean the pupcakery store front window and stick on her decal logo.
The clean window and the new logo really made her pupcakery feel like it was Sugar’s own space. And that anxiety she felt a few hours ago had evolved into excitement, joy, and accomplishment.
Sugar was so proud that she ran outside to see it from the front and take a few pictures. There it was. “PUPCAKE SUGAR.” Right there for every dog walking by to see. “How ‘bout that?” Sugar barked to herself. “My own space to bake.”
A few dogs walking by even congratulated her. One dog even barked from her car while she was stopped at the light. Which made Sugar even more excited to be a part of this community.
Celebrate with Pupcakes
After a day of moving and cleaning, there was only one way to celebrate. Eating a few pupcakes. So, Sugar pulled out the Chicken & Waffle Pupcakes she packed for her and her dogs. The place was finally starting to feel like her own.
Sugar could even breathe. In…and Out. Now, the room smelled like a weird mix of lavender and vinegar thanks to that homemade cleaning spray Sugar used. But that smell will fade away just like the stains, dirt, and whatever that was under the corner booth they cleaned up with it.
“Now,” Sugar barked. “Let’s get to this oven and decor. We gotta Dog Mom’s Day Brunch to get ready for.”
