I have a million different barks.

There’s the bark I use to have a conversation with my “bark pal” in the building across the street.  There’s the “somebody’s at the door bark” that I use to let Mom know that someone’s ringing the doorbell.  And, we can’t forget about my “knock it off, you’re disturbing the peace” bark.  I usually use those when the trash truck decides to roll through the neighborhood, or some human decides to crank up a lawnmower (or leaf blower, or snow blower).

In any given moment, I’m not opposed to using them.  Now, don’t get me wrong.  I’m not the type of dog that barks all day every day.  I don’t have the time or the interest to do so.  I only bark when I have something I want to say.  Or, when I’m asking for something I want.

For instance, there’s the “Mom, I want you to play with me” bark.  There’s the “I did a good job.  So, can I have a treat?” bark.  And, I certainly can’t forget about the “Can I go outside?” bark.

Honestly, there’s no harm in asking for what you want.  What’s the worst a human (or pup) can say?  “No?”

If you never ask, the answer will always be no.

It was hard for me to get that concept at first.  “No” always seemed to be the biggest form of rejection to me.  A rejection of my ideas, my dreams and even my values.  So, like most of us who’ve been rejected a few times, I would stop asking for what I wanted.  I would accept what was handed to me.  And, then convince myself to deal with the hand that I was dealt.

Then one day it hit me.  It’s true.  “No” is a form of rejection.  However, “no” is the first step to strategizing how to go after your dreams and aspirations.  Whether we realize it or not, those “no’s” are building our resilience.  Our ability to bounce back.  Our strength to keep pushing through as we stay focused on what we want.  Those “no’s” are the first step to your journey to “yes.”

It’s simply about perspective.  So, even if you’re a little fearful about hearing the word “no.”  Ask anyway.  If someone says “no” take it as the first step to re-strategize your plan to go after what you want.  However, they could say “yes.”  And, all those “no’s” that you heard before will all be worth it.

  • 2 Mini Bundt Cakes Pupcakes

Ingredients

Raspberry Mini Bundt Cake Pupcakes

  • 1/2 Cup Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1/3 Cup Plain Yogurt
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/4 Cup Raspberries

Honey Glazed Icing (Optional)

  • 1/4 Cup Plain Yogurt
  • 1 Tablespoon Pure Honey

Instructions

For Raspberry Mini Bundt Cake Pupcakes

  • 1Preheat oven to 350° F.
  • 2In small bowl mix together flour and baking powder. Set aside.
  • 3In a large mixing bowl add olive oil, yogurt and egg. Beat on medium speed until combined.
  • 4Add dry ingredients into the mixture and blend until mixed.
  • 5Stir in raspberries
  • 6Fill each 4-1/8-inch by 2-inch mini bundt pan cavity with pupcake mixture. Bake for 20 – 22 minutes. Pupcakes are done when you can stick a toothpick into the cake and it comes out clean. Remove from pan and cool on wire rack.
  • 7Pipe, drizzle, or spread honey glazed icing onto the pupcakes. (optional)

For Honey Glazed Icing (Optional)

  • 1In small mixing bowl beat yogurt and honey together on medium speed.
  • 2Pipe, drizzle, or spread honey glazed icing onto the pupcakes.
  • 3Sprinkle chopped spinach on top of the mini bundt cake pupcakes (optional).
