The Pupcake Sugar Holiday Gift Guide is here. This year we’re focusing on the baking essentials. If you have the essentials in your kitchen, you can let your baking imagination run wild. So, this is a great time to give the gift of baking. Not only will you get to give someone the opportunity to practice a little baking self-care, but the dog she loves will get some love too.
AFFORDABLE MIXER
Whether you choose a hand mixer or a stand mixer, you’ll need one to mix your pupcake ingredients. Prices can range from approximately $30 to a few hundred depending on the type of mixer and the brand. Choose the one that fits in your price range.
STAINLESS STEEL MIXING BOWLS
A basic set of stainless-steel mixing bowls will go a long way when you’re baking pupcakes. They’re easier to clean than glass mixing bowls. They’re also store easier to store.
MEASURING CUPS & SPOONS
Baking pupcakes requires measuring your ingredients. There’s no way of getting around it. So, having a sturdy set of measuring cups and spoons in your inventory is a must. Stainless-steel may be the move if you’re planning on doing a whole lot of baking as the less sturdy varieties tend to dent over time.
PUPCAKE RECIPE BOOK
A good recipe book like Sugar’s Dish or Pupcake Soul are great to get anyone started with the pupcake baking. What’s even better is that they are available in eBook form, which makes it great for a last-minute gift purchase.
MINI OR STANDARD CUPCAKE PAN
One sturdy cupcake pan is necessary for pupcakes. I prefer the aluminum steel cupcake pans. However, there are several varieties of silicone cupcake pans that work as well. Also, choose the size that works for your dog. Standard size cupcake pans will produce standard sized pupcakes. Mini cupcake pans produce smaller pupcakes. Sugar is a little dog. So, all the pupcakes I bake for her are miniature size.
BAKING CUP LINERS
Baking liners always add some extra detail to your pupcakes. There are several colors, sizes, design, and patterns to use for your pupcakes.
PASTRY BAGS & PIPING TIPS
I usually pipe all the frosting onto my pupcakes. If you’re looking to play around with pupcake frosting, adding pastry bags and piping tips to your baking toolbox is key.
FLEXIBLE SPATULA
You’ll need a flexible spatula to help with batters and other ingredients that you’ll need to scrape out of the bowl.
ONE SERRATE KNIFE & ONE BUTTER KNIFE
The serrated knife is perfect for cutting ingredients, such as fruits and vegetables, used in your pupcake recipes. The butter knife is perfect for leveling dry measures. And, if you’re not piping your frosting, the butter knife can be used to frost your pupcakes.
SPICES & INGREDIENTS
Baking pupcakes is all about the ingredients. So, a nice gift basket with spices and other dry ingredients are nice. This allows them to start their own spice rack.
COOLING RACK
After the pupcakes are done in the oven, they’ll need to cool. A nice cooling rack is the perfect addition to a pupcake baker’s inventory.
DISHES & PLATES
Take up the pupcake décor a notch with a nice serving plate for the pupcake. Nice décor for your pupcake will not only put your pupcake at center stage for their social media picture, but it will also give the dog you love a chance to feel an extra special.
BLENDER
For the pupcake baker that loves to puree their vegetables like sweet potatoes for a recipe, a nice blender will work.
CUTTING BOARD & FOOD PROCESSOR
Cutting and chopping ingredients is sometimes a part of the creative pupcake baking process. A nice cutting board or food processor makes cutting and chopping ingredients easier.
OVEN MITS
Every baker needs some oven mitts to pull the hot cupcake pan out of the oven.
CAKE THERMOMETER
I use this cake thermometer to make sure the inside of the pupcakes are fully baked. This is a nice added feature to the essentials in any baker’s kitchen.
