You have the right to change your mind.
And, don’t let any pup convince you anything different. There’s no rule that says that once you’ve made a decision, settled on a theory, or even married a “crazy idea” that you have to keep it that way forever. Especially, if it no longer serves you. In my pup world, having the courage to change your mind is growth.
Case and point. A few years ago, I was living in the mindset of “I can’t afford it.” Anytime an opportunity to take part in a “crazy idea,” my answer was always the same. “I can’t afford it.” In fact, I got so used to believing that it wasn’t in my budget that it not only became my patent answer, but my mantra for everything I wanted to do. Until one day, I decided to change my mind completely.
My BFF, Cayenne, barked to ask me if I was interested in going to The Block Pawty.
She was planning a girls’ trip to finally catch up. Usually, my reply would be the same. “I can’t afford it.” These pup-dulting bills are real. However, there was no way I was going to be left out and miss all The Block Pawty shenanigans.
The chance to get my paws on some amazing food, vibe out to some of my favorite artist, and catch up with my BFFs was the push I needed to make a change and do something different. In the words of Steve Maraboli…
Once your mindset changes, everything on the outside will change along with it.
And, change it did indeed. I’ll tell you this. The power of the bark is amazing. The moment I changed my mind from “I can’t afford it” to “I’ll work it out” the “how” appeared with no effort. I figured out exactly how I could afford this trip while maintaining my pup-dulting responsibilities.
Before I knew it, I was hopping a flight to New Howl-leans with my BFFs, Cynn, Ginger, and Cayenne, ready to weerrrk our tails and have fun getting into some old school pup shenanigans. There’s nothing like a change in your mindset to prove that anything you want to do is possible.
Like a much-needed girls’ trip with my BFFs. Or, a “crazy idea” like Pupcake Sugar. However, I’d love to hear from you.
Was there ever a time you were glad you changed your mind?
