4 Signs It’s Time For You to Take a Break

4 Signs It's Time for You to Take a Break #selfcare

We all know that pup business ownership is no easy feat.

It’s definitely not for the faint at heart.  I mean, really.  There’s always a new problem to figure out.  A meeting to fit into your already crowded schedule.  And, yes.  An even more “crazy idea” to go after.  Every day is definitely a stretch of your pup imagination.

In fact, there are times where I’ve gotten so used to the pup business ownership dog race, that I somehow miss the tell tail signs that I need a break.

And, I’m not woofing about those fake breaks.  You know.  Those breaks when you decide to catch up on all those errands you forgot to get done.  Or, the ones when you “just check emails.”

I’m woofing about the real breaks where I cancel any and everything for a few days.  As the saying goes…

You can’t pour from an empty cup.

Passion about your “crazy idea” is great.  However, if we miss the signs that it’s time to give ourselves a chance to relax, that passion can turn into…well…stress.  Believe me.  It’s definitely a thin line.  So, for all of my passionate pup business owners out there, if you start experiencing these four things it’s time to take a break immediately.

CAN’T FOCUS ON YOUR FOCUS

Don’t get me wrong.  I already have a short attention span.  Most pups do.  However, writing a supposed 2-minute pup-email took me a whole week, I realized I had a problem.  By nature, I’m a box checker.  As I complete one task, I check it off my list and move on to the next one.  However, those checks became few and far between and I had so much trouble focusing on the things I needed to get done.

IMAGINATION DISAPPEARS

I consider myself a pretty creative pup.  However, my imagination seemed to stall for a little while.  Ideas stopped flowing, which was making me more and more frustrated.  Like I said.  It’s a thin line between passion and stress in the world of pup business ownership.  So, if my creativity stops flowing, it’s definitely time for a break.

YOUR BODY TELLS YOU TO SIT THE BARK DOWN

It’s one thing to ignore it when you can’t focus on an email. Or, when you’re a little frustrated about not being able to come up with a solution to your problem.  However, one thing this pup knows for sure that if you push off the fact that you need a break for too long, your body will definitely make you take one.  So, if you feel zapped of all your energy, sick out of the blue or any other random ailment, listen to your body and take a rest.

LITTLE ISSUES FEEL LIKE BIG ISSUES

When I’m really tired or drained, the smallest things can feel like the biggest issues.  While having to run to the store to pick up some pupcake cups to bake these Banana Carob Chip Pupcakes may not seem like a big deal, to a tired pup that needs a break it can seem like the most detrimental thing in the world.

And, now that we have a few signs to work with, we can find a few ways to relax and fill that cup back up.  So, I’d love to hear from you.

How do you fill up your empty cup?  Or, how do you plan out your breaks?
