4 Ways to Choose Your Next Pupcake Recipe

picking a recipe

Baking pupcakes starts with picking a pupcake recipe.

So, before you think about baking your next batch of pupcakes, remember these four things.

PICK A PUPCAKE RECIPE THAT MEETS YOUR NEEDS

In other words, what’s your goal for the pupcakes?  Is it to make something quick and easy?  Do you want to try something new?  Are you baking for yourself or for a room full of pups?  There are so many recipes to choose from.  However, the first way to pick the perfect pupcake recipe for you is to identify the needs you’re trying to solve.

TAP INTO YOUR FLAVOR MOOD

Baking pupcakes is a mood.  So, tap into your mood before you decide which pupcake flavor to bake next.  Are you looking for something sweet as opposed to savory?  Feeling peanut butter over sweet potatoes?  Focus on the flavors that bring you joy in that moment.  Believe me.  That joy comes through in the pupcakes and makes them taste better.

CHECK YOUR INGREDIENTS

You can’t bake pupcakes without ingredients.  Sometimes the ingredients you have available will make that recipe decision for you.  But, as any pupcakepreneur will tell you.  Make those ingredients work.

THINK ABOUT STORAGE

Storage matters.  So, if you’re going to bake pupcakes ‘til your heart’s content, make sure that you have some place to store them.  We definitely don’t want to waste any pupcakes because there’s no room in the freezer.  Do you know how many pupcakes I baked without thinking about where to store them?  I’m all for “crazy ideas,” but most of them need a plan.

Speaking of “crazy ideas,” Giving A Shift was amazing this past weekend.

Giving A Shift is a community business paw hop for pups in the neighborhood to fellowship with each other.  Opening Pupcake Sugar has given me the amazing opportunity to meet so many great pups.

Like Plum, who owns Plum Motion down the street.  Our resident “Werk-ologist,” Plum offers exercise classes for pups ready to get fit and “werk” their tail.  Or, Kale.  She’s a true fashionista and owner of Kalespiration, which is next door.  Kale makes it clear that she doesn’t sell clothes for pups.  She serves looks, honey.  And, then Bean.  My mentor and resident life coach.  Bean owns Beanevolence Daily where he provides life coaching sessions to pups looking to “Get out of their own way.”

When the four of us were trying to think of a fun way to take part in the Annual Day of Giving, Giving A Shift was the answer.  Pups could attend fun events at each of our businesses for free throughout the day.  And, all events were geared towards helping pups navigate the “shift.”  Plum provided free “werk-out” sessions.  Kale provided pup styling sessions.  And, Bean offered a vision board workshop to help pups visualize their own goals.

So, I was so excited for Pupcake Sugar to participate in Giving A Shift.  So, I offered what I do best.  Self-care through pupcakes.  Basil and I came together to teach pups about meal prepping, choosing the right recipe, and give pups a pupcake baking lesson.  In the words of Timothy Ferriss…

You guarantee a good meal by picking the recipes well, not by following recipes well.

We offered 4 pupcake baking lessons and classes during the day.  Pups could sign up to attend a class or drop by to get some Pupcake Sugar self-care kits, which included several items to practice a little self-love at home.  Our goal was to provide a fun environment for helping pups choose the right meal for them and give them fun options to do it.

Now, let’s dish because I’d love to hear from you.
