Sugar Bans Work From The Bedroom & Indulges In These Cranberry Pumpkin Oatmeal Muffin Pupcakes

Homemade Halloween dog treat recipe for Cranberry Pumpkin Oatmeal Muffin Pupcakes

My bedroom is the place where I relax.

If it doesn’t involve sleeping or some relaxing with my paws up, it doesn’t belong anywhere in my bedroom.  Don’t get me wrong.  I used to be the kind of pup that would do her work in bed.  At night, while my human was sleeping, there’d be piles of papers and folders surrounding my bed.  Not to mention, my laptop that I secretly hid under my bed.

I can’t tell you how many times I fell asleep in a pile of Pupcake Sugar paperwork.  And, let’s not forget about the mornings I never felt like I got a good night’s sleep because I slept on top of my laptop.

Believe me.  It was never fun to have to get up a few minutes earlier to rush and hide all my work before my human got up in the morning.

One evening after getting home from my job at BarkScent, I retreated straight to my room.  The minute I got to the door of my bedroom, I immediately became overwhelmed.

You see.  That morning, I had a few extra minutes to myself after my human left for work.  So, I had a few moments to myself to complete Pupcake Sugar work.  I also figured that since I’d get home before my human that’d I’d put everything away before she got home.

However, the pile of papers, folders and remnants of brainstorming, had taken on a life of its own.  It was so much stuff that I dreaded going in to clean it up.

And, the last thing I wanted to do after a long day at BarkScent was clean up a stack of paper.  I just wanted to dive in bed and take a nap before my human got home.  There was no way I could do that if I had to clean this mess up.

In that moment, I knew that it was time to make a change.  In the words of Amy Poehler…

Sleep helps you win at life.

How can I get a goodnight’s sleep or even take a nap, if there is clutter around my bed?  I needed to figure out another place to work on my pup business and where I could store all of my work.

Like most pup business owners, I didn’t have enough nudges to rent a space from another pup.  I had to use what was available to me, which at that moment was my human’s living space.  In a nutshell, this creative pup had to get…well…creative.

So, I turned the corner of my human’s apartment into my own private working space.  And, since I love sunlight, my creative space was right next to the window where all the natural light shined in.  I used my day bed as my “pup office chair,” stored my books and papers underneath the lap and I even hid my laptop underneath the couch.

The couch was a great space.  While my human was home, I could easily hide under it to get some work done.  My human thought I was sleeping, so she would rarely bother me.

Best of all…when I got too tired to do anymore work, I could go in my bedroom, actually rest and get a goodnight’s sleep.  I didn’t have to move papers out of the way first and wasn’t falling asleep in a pile of work either.

I also noticed that my mind would actually rest.  There weren’t a ton of thoughts about working swirling around in my head.  And when I got up the next morning, my mind was refreshed and I could get a lot more work done.

The moral of this pup-tale is simple.  Never keep work in the bedroom.  It’s a distraction and tells your pup brain that you don’t need to actually rest.  Creating a separate work area will allow you to work as late as you want.

However, if you feel that you need a break, no work in the bedroom will give your pup brain a place where it can actually relax if you need to.

These Cranberry Pumpkin Oatmeal Muffin Pupcakes are dedicated to no work in the bedroom.

And of course, we believe that every pupcake has a love story.  So, while your favorite pup is PUPPY LOVIN’ on these pupcakes, we’d love to hear from you.
