A New Way to Support Your BFF’s “Crazy Idea”

A New Way to Support Your BFF's "Crazy Idea" #homedecor #partyideas #themedpartyideas

What do you do when your BFF finally decides to start her business?

You throw her a surprise business shower of course.  My BFF Ginger has been barking about starting her own pup skin care business for years.  However, she always felt like she never had the time (or the nudges) to pursue her “crazy idea.”

These past couple months have been a time of reflection for everyone.  So, after a lot of pupcake soul searching, Ginger finally decided to take the first step, invest in herself and go for it.

Ginger has been there to support me whenever I needed her.  She spent hours helping me clean up and get ready for Pupcake Sugar’s grand opening event.  And, in the words of Marlene Dietrich…

It’s the friends you can call up at 4 a.m. that matter.

So, I wanted to welcome her to this new world of pup business ownership, the best way I know how.  With pupcakes.  I decided to throw her a surprise business shower.

This business shower concept is pretty simple.  It’s just like that pup bridal shower you went to last year.  You know?  The one where you had to make a dress out of toilet paper.   Except with a business shower you’re celebrating your BFF’s courage to invest in herself.

I invited all of her friends and family to come out to support her.  As any pup business owner knows, chasing your “crazy idea” is tough.  So, having the encouragement and support from all of your loved ones is always icing on the pupcake.  The expression on her face when we woofed “surprise” was perfect enough for me.

Any pups looking to support their BFF’s “crazy idea” as she takes her first step in her journey?  Well…why not throw her a business shower?  Here are five things you’ll need to get you started.

POSITIVE VIBES

Any pup that’s going to come and be negative needs to stay home.  Business showers are for good vibes only.  No one wants a pup woofing about how something won’t work.  So, if they’re not there to share in the joy, offer support or provide a solution to your BFF’s “crazy idea,” then they should kindly be escorted outside.

ENTERTAINMENT

As a pup business owner, your BFF is going to be busy.  There are going to be a lot of times when they have to miss out on yappy hour, a concert or a trap doga class to handle things for the business.  So, make this business shower fun. If your BFF is into games, have games.  If your BFF is into dancing, have some music and a space for her to weeerrk her tail.  Give her a chance to laugh and have as much fun as she can.

NETWORKING TREE

It’s not always about what you know, it’s who you know.  No one achieves their “crazy idea” on their own.  There are pups that help them along the way.  So, have a network promise box for pups to submit a promise to introduce them to another pup that can help them with a business.  Building a network of pups to help her work towards her “crazy idea” will help her win even more.

PUPCAKES

Really?  What’s a party, shower or any event for that matter, without pupcakes.  For your BFF’s business shower, you need something that brings the good energy and positive vibes. So, these Carrot Carob Pupcakes are perfect.

REGISTRY

Let’s face it.  Starting a business takes a lot of time, effort and resources.  Time and effort are one thing.  But, those resources can really clean out your Bark of America account.  Especially, when you’re nickeling and diming yourself on small items such as notebooks, pens, pupcake cups, and other items.  So, creating a registry for guests to purchase materials to help the pup business owner get started is a great way to help finance the business.  Just make sure you’re clear on what your BFF will need prior to sending out the registry information to the guest.

The biggest support that any BFF can ask for is to know that you’re there.  Even if you don’t understand their “crazy idea,” you show up when they need you.  So, I’d love to hear from you.

How do you support your BFF’s “crazy idea?”  Or, how has your BFF supported your “crazy idea?”

One thing I’ve learned that as a pup business owner, checking myself is a must.  When I need a break, I have to take a break.

So, the biggest piece of advice I gave to Ginger was to always make time for pup self-care.  It’ll make you more productive.  Like the time I snuck out the house to get a little much needed quality time with my BFFs.  Check out 5 Must Haves for Summer Concert Season for the story.
