4 Reasons Summer’s Not Canceled

Summer.  I love it.

The days are longer.  The weather’s warmer.  And, everything about it feels invigorating, energizing and full of good vibes.  Beach days, concert fests and cookouts are a usual part of my summer fun activities.  In fact, if I could sum up summer…any summer into one word it would be NOSTALGIA.

However, this year I’m playing hooky from the beach.  I’m not quite sure I’m ready to be around thousands of pups just yet.  You know?  Corona.  And, the one concert fest I was looking forward to is cancelled.  I was really looking forward to seeing Bruno Paws too.  I had my plan ready to sneak out the house.

But, nevertheless.  This summer is still going to be nostalgic.  This year I decided to keep it simple.  In the words of Amelia Barr…

Marvelous indeed.  I just have to be a little bit more creative and find joy in all of the simple things that this summer has to offer.  So, here are four things I’m including in my summer plans.

ICE CREAM SUNDAYS

There’s nothing more nostalgic that enjoying ice cream on a Sunday while you’re sitting on the stoop with your BFFs.  It’s the perfect time to laugh, share stories, and partake in some sweet self-care Sunday.  You’ll also be surprised at what you see while observing pups in their element.  Plus, what pup doesn’t love ice cream?  Especially, when you combine them with your favorite pupcake.  My favorite is this Banana Peanut Butter Ice Cream flavor. 

COUPLES’ SKATE

Skating used to be one of my favorite things to do.  Every weekend you could catch me at a rink shuffling to my favorite song.  This summer, Bay and I are dusting off the old skates and doing date night on the rink.  I haven’t been skating in a while, so this will be fun.  But if I fall, Bay better catch me. 

DOUBLE DUTCH

Yes.  This pup can really jump.  I remember doing this as a young pup.  I would spend hours outside jumping and learning how to do tricks in the rope.  How do you think I can jump so high now?  Believe me.  This pup’s got hops.  And once you learn how to jump Double Dutch, you never forget.  So, on any given Saturday, you can catch me jumping my little heart out.

SUMMER PLAY LIST

Summers are made for anthems.  There’s not one summer of my life that can’t be defined by at least one song.  All I have to do is hear it and nostalgia immediately kicks in.  As far as I’m concerned until Summertime by Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, the summer hasn’t even officially started yet.  So, since the concert fest I was heading to is cancelled, I’m creating my own summer playlist.  This way I can take my music everywhere I go. 

Summer is definitely my favorite season.  There’s always something to do and somewhere to go.  Plus, my creativity seems to flourish when the weather’s nice, the days are long and vibes are good.  So, I’d love to hear from you.
