How to Survive the January Marathon

Ways to take a vacation from January

Anyone need a vacation?

I sure do.  It never fails.  Every year, I feel like I need something to break up the long stretch of January.  When I wake up it’s dark.  After I’m finished with all of my duties, it’s dark.  However, this year I decided to take a different approach to what I call the January Marathon.

For the past 3 years, I’ve been a pup card carrying member of the “Why is January so long?” club.

You know what I mean.  The club where no matter what you do, January feels more like it has 84 days instead of 31.  However, with the new decade, I decided to leave those pup January time sucks behind me.

This year, I’ve got a new barking attitude.  Instead of complaining about a problem, I’m going to do something about it.  So, in order to break up this long stretch of January we’re in, I decided to get proactive and jam pack my weekend.  As we pups say…

Time stands still in boredom, but flies when you’re having fun.

Why do you think we pups have short attention spans?  We’re not built for boredom.  We pups were born to live out loud.  And we pup business owners, definitely need a little fun to get those “crazy ideas” flowing.

So, here are my top tips to breeze through that pup January Marathon.

PLAN A QUICK GETAWAY

Yes.  We pups love to travel too.  And, I’d much rather be playing in some sand on a beach than playing bumper cars with the carts in the grocery store with the other pups.  So, I designated a quick weekend getaway.  Not long, but enough to give me something to look forward to relaxing and enjoying this lovely January we’re having.

DO WORK OUTSIDE THE OFFICE

As a pup business owner, sometimes you have to work weekends.  Yipe!  However, it comes with the job.  Sometimes getting out of the house a little bit actually helps.  Now, I’m not going for a dog walk in The Park, it’s too cold.  But, I’d be down to take in some city views while looking out the window at the pup café down the street.

TRY SOMETHING NEW

January is about fresh starts, right?  So, why not try something you’ve always wanted to do. Whether it’s a new food, or even trying to sled down a hill after a blizzard.  It may even be cool to take a class to learn something new.  I’m all for taking a quick YapTube tutorial.  I’m partial to dance classes.  What else am I supposed to do while I’m baking these Sweet Potato Cranberry Pupcakes in the kitchen?

PUP GIRLS’ NIGHT OUT

While slumber parties are great, going out in some of your fly clothes is always a good time.  You can’t flirt with a cute guy pup if you stay in to binge watch a few pup movies.  Ok.  Maybe you can while pawing through your phone.  But going out is a lot more fun than sliding into some pup’s DM.  Plus, you need stuff to post on your Pupsta-gram anyway.

January is definitely a long stretch.  That’s why it’s so important to try to have as much fun as you can.  It makes the month seem a lot shorter, if you ask me.  However, I’d love to hear from you.

What fun activities are you doing to endure the January marathon?
