How to Keep Every Day from Looking the Same

How to Keep Every Day from Looking the Same

Is it just me, or does every day look the same?

Monday looks like Friday.  And, weekends don’t seem to have that same glow.  Life looks so different when you’re working from home.

But, I’ve come up with the ultimate solution.  Creating a quarantine schedule.  Yes.  A schedule.  It was the only way I could wrap my paws around this work-from-home situation.

I’m sure you know how easy it is to give in to a nap when you’ve got a never-ending number of bark-mails to answer.  Not to mention the number of times that a conference woof gets pushed back because…well…no one felt like even trying to pretend that they’re actually working.

However, creating a schedule I can actually follow has made running my business a little easier to handle during this quarantine.  Who says you can’t chase your “crazy idea” from your couch?  In the words of Stephen Covey…

The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.

Creating a schedule is more than just putting dates and times on a piece of paper.  It’s about finding the system that works for you.  So, for all you “crazy idea” couch surfers out there, here are four of my favorite things to use to create your own perfect schedule.

A PLANNER OR JOURNAL

Don’t listen to what any pup tells you.  You don’t have to throw your “whole 2020 planner away.”  Yes.  This year has hit us with an unexpected curve ball, but a planner is still my number one go to.  I still have conference woofs to attend, “crazy ideas” to work on, and goals to achieve.  Writing things down in my planner still keeps me focused on mapping out what I need to do to reach all of my “crazy ideas.”

A PLATE OF PUPCAKES

Yeah.  Like you’re really surprised.  Creating a schedule that actually works for you is hard work.  Knowing that these Blueberry Pupcakes With Peanut Butter Cream Frosting are waiting for me when I’m done is the perfect motivation.  Especially, if I can snack on one while kicking my paws up and catching some sunlight from my favorite window.  A little Vitamin D always energizes me even if I can only catch those rays from inside the house.

#CLUBQUARANTINE…ENOUGH SAID

Anyone go to the last #ClubQuarantine?  Did you see me?  I was the pup wearing her cute pup-jamas writing in her planner.  Music always puts me in a good mood.  So, why not bring that same pup energy to creating my schedule.  I can vibe out to my favorite songs, organize my time for the week and get a chance to weeerrk my tail.

MY CREATIVE SPACE

I’m all about writing down my to-do list while sitting in my bed with my satin scarf.  However, if I’m creating an honest to goodness schedule, I need to be sitting in my creative space.  And my space, has to have all the creative Zen-like materials that’ll make any pup feel like she can design her dream pup career.  So, a few quotes, colorful pens, my vision board, and funky desk organizer will definitely do the trick.  Developing my own schedule in my creative space adds a little more purpose behind my schedule, which in turn will make it easier to follow it.

Spending all day in my pup-jamas is cool.  However, after a while that can become pretty boring.  A pup like me needs a little variety in her life.  But until they open up the outside, I have to create new ways to keep life interesting in the house.  Building a schedule is my intentional way of doing that.  However, I’d love to hear from you.

How are you keeping every day from looking the same?  What are you doing to add some excitement to your day?
