Sugar Builds Her Pupcake Team & Indulges In These Banana Mango Oatmeal Pupcakes

Back to school homemade dog treat recipe for Banana Mango Oatmeal Muffin Pupcakes

I consider myself an independent pup.

I’ve been figuring things out on my own since I was a young puppy.  I’d sit for hours trying to figure out a puzzle, answer to a question or whatever else I needed a solution to.  I felt a sense of accomplishment when I could figure things out on my own.

I’m also extremely adventurous.  I was never one of those pups that would take another pup’s word for it.  I had to explore, research and investigate things on my own.  And if things didn’t turn out the way I wanted them to, it was my own experience that taught me the lesson.  I always find you learn better that way.

However, my independence and adventurous side made it difficult at times to ask for help.  Not because I didn’t want it, but because somehow, I always thought that I could solve the problem better myself.

When I started Pupcake Sugar, I carried that same mindset into my business.  I started off doing everything from baking, photography, graphic design, marketing and the list goes on.  I hid under the umbrella of “bootstrapping” to convince myself that I didn’t need any help and that I could do it on my own.

And, like every new pup business owner, nudges were tight.  So, I was trying to be as cost efficient as possible with everything I did.

I would spend hours pawing through the pup internet searching for “How to…” videos and “DIY Step by Step” solution articles for anything you could imagine.

It wasn’t until I got my first big pupcake order, when I finally concluded that this “forget it, I’ll do it” mentality wasn’t going to work.  It was too many pupcakes and too little time to not admit that I wasn’t going to be able to do it on my own.

I needed help.  So, I asked a few of my pup friends to step in and help.  We spent 2 days in the kitchen, baking pupcakes, listening to music, and laughing about whatever joke or little bit of gossip we felt like barking about.  Before I knew it, the order was done.

And, in those 2 days, I realized exactly what I was missing.  A team of people to help bring my vision to life.  I needed help on a regular basis.  I was running myself ragged and didn’t even know it.  In the words of Charlie Brown…

Asking for help isn’t weak, it’s a great example of how to take care of yourself.

So, for the next week I mapped out every project coming up, every goal I had for my business, and every project that has been put off of the lack of time.  I mapped my own skills and what Pupcake Sugar activities aligned best with my strengths.  Anything left on the list, I decided I was going to outsource to another pup for help.

Now, I have a team of 5 pups who are helping bring my vision for Pupcake Sugar to life.  These pups have alleviated the stress that I often put on myself to get everything done.  Their expertise has also given me a better perspective.  Having these amazing pups on my team will make Pupcake Sugar stronger, and I’m absolutely grateful for them.

Through all of this, I’ve learned that it’s perfectly alright to ask for help.  In fact, we all should be encouraged to.  We pups can’t do everything on our own.  The world of pup business ownership can be pretty lonely, so don’t isolate yourself even more by trying to do everything yourself.

I’ve often found that pups want to support you, if you give them a chance to.  Look at asking for help as an investment in your goals, dreams and aspirations.  It’ll make you much stronger, happier and healthier because you’ll have a sense of community supporting you.

These Banana Mango Oatmeal Muffin Pupcakes are dedicated to having the courage to ask for help.

And of course, we believe that every pupcake has a love story.  So, while your favorite pup is PUPPY LOVIN’ on these pupcakes, we’d love to hear from you.

What inspired you to ask for help, and how has it benefited your well-being?  Or, what’s one thing you can outsource to make life a little easier?  What’s holding you back from asking for the help you need?
